From The North Face to BERBERJIN®(Vintage Store in Shinjuku), Comme des Garcons Junya Watanabeman's new collection was inspired by Bhutanese photographs.

At the show venue where Ryuichi Sakamoto's (坂本龍一／さかもとりゅういち) songs "Ma Mere L'Oie" and "Thousand Knives" are played, there are many photographs taken in Bhutan, which is also known as the "Kingdom of Happiness" in Japan. As Junya Watanabe said, "I made a collection of traveling in Bhutan," the Spring / Summer 2022 collection of "COMME des GARÇONS JUNYA WATANABE MAN" is photographer Jamie Hawkesworth. It is said that it was inspired by the photograph of Bhutan sent from Jamie Hawkesworth.

This season, the styling that combines a straw hat and sarouel pants with a deformed pattern in collaboration with "Mühlbauer"(Hat maker in the Viennese suburb of Floridsdorf) is symbolic. Textiles reminiscent of Bhutanese folk costumes "Kira" and "Go" are inserted by switching, and although workwear is the base, the styling of sandals, hats, and sarouel pants has created a collection.

The graphics are made by various artists. Bangkok-based illustrator Keiichi Tanaami, Phannapast Taychamaythakool, who is also known for his collaboration with GUCCI, Chinese artist Jacky Tsai, and Polish illustrator Marta Olga Klara. Works such as were dropped into T-shirts.

Junya Watanabe has collaborated widely with well-established brands and sports makers, but this season Junya Watanabe will continue to collaborate with other brands. "THE NORTH FACE" "Ark Air" bruzon, "New Balance" "574" based sneakers, "Dickies", "Levi's" Items such as "Sarouel pants" and "Brooks Brothers" blazer and shirts were unveiled.

In addition, Garments, which is said to have transferred and printed vintage items, was produced in collaboration with the vintage shop "BerBerJin". Also, although it was not shown at the show, collaboration slip-ons with "Stepney Workers Club" (East London unisex footwear brand) and collaboration boots with "PALLADIUM" will be developed.

Watanabe was inspired by a series of Jamie Hawkesworth photographs taken during his travels to Bhutan and the sense of discovery the only exploration can uncover. He uses illustrations and artworks from international artists such as Phannapast Taychamaythakool, Jacky Tsai, Rlon Wang, Ang Tsherin Sherpa, Keiichi Tanaami, Zuebing Du, Quang & Lien, and Marta Olga Klara The show features reimagined and original garments from brands such as The North Face, Levi’s, Ark Air, Karrimor, Dickies, Il Bisonte, Muehlbauer, Randolph, Ark Air, Brooks Brothers, New Balance, and BerBerJin
