"Jean Paul Gaultier" announces the haute couture collection with "SACAI" designer Chitose Abe 阿部千登勢. The title is "Gaultier Paris by SACAI".
"Enfants Terribles" is exactly Jean Paul Gaultier and Chitose Abe. "Enfant Terrible" is a word used to describe Gaultier, and a T-shirt with a logo collaged in multiple forms is Abe at the finale of the "Gaultier Paris by SACAI collection.
Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier retired as a fashion designer after the haute couture collection was announced in January 2020.
Chitose Abe of "SACAI" decided to continue haute couture by inviting guest designers. Originally, the collection was scheduled to be announced in July 2020, but due to the influence of Corona COVID-19, it was postponed twice, so the collection was unveiled for over a year. The show will be held on July 7th at the Gaultier headquarters in Paris.
The announced 31 looks reconstructed a symbolic design in honor of the spirit of Gaultier and incorporated abundant hybrid methods.
Instead of using the archive as it is, Abe proposes an avant-garde style with an approach that breaks it once and enjoys an unexpected combination. The first look is a style in which a transparent tennis striped shirt dress is layered on a tattoo-printed bodysuit designed by Dr. Woo. The corset is reminiscent of the corn bra worn by Madonna in 1983.
Abe's new interpretation and couture technology are injected into iconic items such as the JPG logo fur blouson worn by Björk on the show runway in 1994 and tartan check pants. The dress, which is made by disassembling and sewing vintage jeans, is fused with a replica of the jacket that appeared in the show of the same year.
Gaultier's trademark Breton striped tops are also available. The elaborate tailoring unique to couture, such as the gradation of blue lines from satin to tulle.
Tailored jackets, trench coats, bomber jackets, etc. are standard items that Sacai usually bases on her collection, she fused it with delicate tulle and corset and sublimated it into a unique dress style with the shaken approach.
