The "JUNYA WATANABE" Spring / Summer 2022 collection is made up of gold drape dresses that look like Kasaya, creating a gorgeous collection.
The COMME des GARÇONS Junya Watanabe MAN Spring / Summer 2022 collection is inspired by Bhutanese photographs sent by Jamie Hawkesworth. The brand name was changed from "Junya Watanabe COMME des GARÇONS" to "Junya Watanabe". This time, in addition to his photo of Bhutan, he felt nostalgia and the pure heart of the people from the photo of his trip to Kashmir, India. "Nostalgic for Asia" in Junya Watanabe is expressed as an item. Like the previous men's, Ryuichi Sakamoto's 坂本龍一 song was adopted as BGM, but this time he used a special arrangement of his song "TONG POO".
At the three-part show, metallic textures such as gold reminiscent of Buddha statues were studded everywhere and combined with traditional costume-style fabrics. In addition, the placket and arm of the skirt and rider's jacket are sewn flat on the three-dimensional dress with drapes and tulle, so that the flat and three-dimensional coexist. The fan-equipped garment, which will be the first in the brand, has a silhouette like a down jacket by adding air.
In addition, the collaboration that "Junya Watanabe" is working on every season follows the men's in the spring and summer of 2022. Bangkok-based illustrator Keiichi Tanaami, Phannapast Taychamaythakool, who is also known for his collaboration with GUCCI, Chinese artist Jacky Tsai, and Polish illustrator Marta Olga Klara. The work of the writer who used it for men like this was incorporated into the graphic.
