Rei Kawakubo worked on-stage costumes for the 150th-anniversary performance opera "Orlando" performed at the Vienna State Opera last December. "Orlando" is an opera based on her novel Orlando: A Biography" was published in 1928 by British novelist and critic Virginia Woolf. A rare attempt in the world of opera, in which women conduct all the composition and direction, including Rei Kawakubo, has gained popularity.
